"When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. However you celebrate today, take a moment to remember the courage it took for those first few men to follow our country's destiny, the sacrifice it took by so many more to keep it safe, and the responsibility we have to continue to create a more perfect union. While we probably will never become president, or even hold public office, each American is responsible for the destiny of our great nation - make it count. Let's celebrate the great land in which we were privileged to be born.
